Fun DIY wedding in their parents back garden in Gloucester – Sallyann & Harry

Date: 20 November 2018

If you love DIY elements then you’ll adore this DIY wedding!

Sallyann and Harry got married at the rustic St Mary The Virgin church, in Hartpury near Gloucester, before moving onto Harry’s parents back garden, last July. It was a super fun back garden wedding, with their love of clay pigeon shooting making a unique focal point and hay bales for seating.

Bridal prep

Sallyann got ready at her house with her mum, sisters and best friend, and there was such a relaxed vibe. Sallyann was laughing all morning and it was a lovely touch that her sisters helped her with her hair and make-up. She wore a stunning high neck wedding dress with veil and looked so beautiful. The girls then jumped into a fancy wedding car to get to the ceremony.

Getting hitched

The ceremony took place in a beautiful church not far from Gloucester. The church was huge, and was just stunning, due to the age and location of the church. The ceremony began with the couple reading their own vows and finished with a shower of confetti outside the church. It was a moving ceremony, full of private smiles and nervous giggles.

After the ceremony, we travelled to the reception, which is such a great time for the newly married couple to have some time to let it sink in. Then the couple mingled with their guests, which was the perfect time for me to get candid photos. The weather was quite rainy, but that didn’t bother them at all.

The afternoon

Sallyann and Harry chose to have their wedding at Harry’s parents back garden because it was important for Sallyann to have her horses nearby and they are stabled there. Their garden is a huge field, and it’s got such a beautiful view, especially where they decided to put their marquee for the afternoon and evening reception.

For the reception, the couple had planned cocktails and lawn games for their guests, and everyone really enjoyed it – It was very relaxed. Everyone was then called in for food, which was a hog roast. It was absolutely delicious. They had speeches before the meal, which were really touching.

The party

After the meal was finished, they cut the cake, and the evening kicked off. The live band kept the party going all night. At one point their dog even joined in the party which caused a lot of laughs.

I loved this fun, DIY wedding so much. If you’re getting married and looking for a fun wedding photographer, get in touch. Here are the photos!
